Muncie Fire Public Adjuster: $280,811 Agreed on One Large Contents Claim
After a house fire in Muncie, your insurance company already has an adjuster working for it. Claim Management Adjusters (CMA) works for you. We are a licensed Indiana public adjusting firm based in Hartford City, about 30 minutes south of our Hartford City office, and fire claims are most of what we do.

Why fire claims get underpaid
The first estimate on a fire claim usually covers the burned room and not much more. Smoke and soot spread through HVAC ducts, wall cavities and attics. Water from the fire hose soaks floors and drywall far from the fire. Code upgrades, demolition, debris removal, contents and additional living expenses are easy to undercount when the carrier writes the scope by itself.
Real Muncie-area claims we have handled
These are summaries from CMA claim files. Names, addresses and claim details are left out to protect our clients. Every claim is different, and past results do not guarantee a future outcome.
2023–2024 large personal property claim
The family’s belongings and equipment were lost. We pushed for an early advance on their tractor so it could be replaced without waiting on the rest of the claim, then built and negotiated the full contents inventory with the insurer until the replacement-cost figure was agreed.
Result: $280,811 in total: a $27,103 advance for the tractor in January 2024, and $253,708 in contents replacement cost agreed in August 2024.
2025 house fire with smoke and water damage
The insurer’s structure estimate came in at $51,979. We wrote our own line-by-line Xactimate estimate of the smoke, soot and water damage the first estimate missed, then built the personal property inventory with the homeowner.
Result: Our estimate came to $81,687, an increase of $29,708 on the structure alone.
2019 fire, home not repairable
The insurer agreed the dwelling could not be repaired, but the personal property claim had only started. We built the contents inventory room by room and kept submitting more items in several rounds instead of accepting the first valuation.
Result: The insurer’s updated contents valuation reached a replacement cost of $172,158.
What we do on a Muncie fire claim
- Inspect the whole home, not just the burned area, and document smoke, soot and water damage.
- Write our own Xactimate estimate and compare it line by line with the insurer’s.
- Build the personal property (contents) inventory with you, room by room.
- Track additional living expenses, debris removal and ordinance-and-law coverage.
- Negotiate with the carrier and, when needed, invoke appraisal.
How we get paid
There is no upfront fee. We are paid a percentage of what the claim pays, under a written contract you sign before we start. If we do not think we can add value, we will tell you.
