May 2021 fire with smoke and water damage

We were hired about a month after the fire. We submitted our estimate, chased a complete copy of the policy, and handled the mortgage payoff paperwork the insurer needed before releasing funds. Our final estimate went from $87,175 to $95,439, which was over the policy limits.

Result: $85,902 in replacement cost was paid on the claim.

March 2019 wind damage

We submitted our own estimate. When the insurer disputed it, we invoked the appraisal clause in the policy and challenged the insurer’s reading of it. When our first appraiser had to step aside because of the insurer’s delay in naming its own, we named a replacement and saw the appraisal through, including the dispute over contractor overhead and profit on a roofing claim.

Result: Replacement cost of $54,236, plus an appraisal award adding $14,260: $68,497 in total.
