A real Charlotte claim we handled
This is a summary from a CMA claim file. Names, addresses and claim details are left out to protect our client. Every claim is different, and past results do not guarantee a future outcome.
A disputed claim that went to appraisal
Working with a partner adjusting firm, we wrote our own estimate and took the dispute to appraisal. The open question was whether the heating and cooling equipment was damaged, so an HVAC engineer inspected the home and replacement bids were gathered.
Result: The signed appraisal award came to $84,420 in replacement cost, including the HVAC with overhead and profit.
Another Charlotte claim
- 2018 wind claim: after we revised the estimate, the insurer paid $36,977 in replacement cost.
What we do on a North Carolina claim
- Inspect the home and document every area of damage with photos and measurements.
- Write our own line-by-line estimate and compare it with the insurer’s.
- Build and price the contents inventory room by room.
- Track deadlines, depreciation and supplements until the claim is paid.
Appraisal services
CMA has served, and still serves, as an appraiser when a policy’s appraisal clause is invoked to settle a disagreement over the amount of loss. If your claim is headed to appraisal, call us and we will explain how the process works.
How we get paid
There is no upfront fee. We are paid a percentage of what the claim pays, under a written contract you sign before we start.
