A real Winnabow claim we handled
This is a summary from a CMA claim file. Names, addresses and claim details are left out to protect our client. Every claim is different, and past results do not guarantee a future outcome.
September 2018 hurricane damage
The mitigation company had already torn out much of the home, and the insurer held payment while it reviewed the mitigation bill. We updated our estimate to reflect the tear-out, submitted it separately from the mitigation invoice as the adjuster requested, and worked through three adjusters until the release was issued.
Result: The release showed $131,803 in replacement cost for the dwelling, plus $734 for other structures.
What we do on a North Carolina claim
- Inspect the roof, siding, interior and outbuildings for wind and water damage.
- Write our own estimate and compare it line by line with the insurer’s.
- Separate mitigation from repair costs so payments are not held up.
- Push for recoverable depreciation and supplemental payments.
How we get paid
There is no upfront fee. We are paid a percentage of what the claim pays, under a written contract you sign before we start.
