Why contents claims stall
After a fire, the carrier asks you to list everything you lost, with prices and ages, and then questions the expensive items. Families get buried in spreadsheets, and the replacement-cost deadline in the policy keeps running. We take that work off your plate.
A real Loris claim we handled
This is a summary from a CMA claim file. Names, addresses and claim details are left out to protect our client. Every claim is different, and past results do not guarantee a future outcome.
April 2019 fire, contents claim
We were brought in about six months after the fire, with the contents claim stuck. We built a room-by-room inventory with a replacement cost of $239,504. When the carrier questioned about $95,260 of items, we answered line by line with photos, receipts and price verification from a tool supplier. Meanwhile we pushed for undisputed payments so the family was not waiting on the whole list. We then submitted a second list and chased the remaining open items before the policy’s two-year replacement-cost deadline.
Result: The claim settled for about $250,000 in total. The contents payments alone included $34,369 undisputed and $54,285 in 2020, then $11,218 and $31,855 in 2021, all before the replacement-cost deadline. The homeowner told us he was very satisfied with how his claim turned out.
What we do on a South Carolina fire claim
- Write our own estimate and compare it line by line with the insurer’s.
- Build and price the contents inventory room by room.
- Answer item-by-item questions with documentation.
- Press for undisputed payments while the rest is reviewed.
- Track the replacement-cost and policy deadlines so money is not lost.
How we get paid
There is no upfront fee. We are paid a percentage of what the claim pays, under a written contract you sign before we start.
