Appraisal & umpire
When they will not move on the number
Appraisal is in most property policies. Each side names an appraiser. If they cannot agree, an umpire breaks the tie. It is faster and cheaper than a lawsuit, and it is built for amount-of-loss fights.
01
Demand appraisal
Written demand under the policy. Deadlines matter. We handle the notice.
02
Appraisers meet
Each side’s appraiser scopes and prices the loss. Agreement ends it.
03
Umpire if needed
Two of three control. The award is binding on the amount of loss.
CMA handles public adjusting and appraisal/umpire work. If your contractor’s supplement is stuck, or the carrier’s estimate is half the job, this is often the right next step — not another month of emails.
